People from Ukerewe island depend much on lakes and natural ponds for domestic water use! And traditionaly,women and young girls are specialised group for ensuring that water for domestic use will be consistantly available! Actually,They spend much time on long distance walking to water resources! , this affects women and young girls to involve more on productions and spend less time on academic issues which finally retarded food productions and and academic perfomances respectively.
